Today we are going to show you how to make a crispy buffalo chicken sandwich!
Now there are many many many places that make a buffalo chicken sandwich and depending on where you go some places make it with grilled chicken, some places make them with crispy chicken. So the question for you is which is your favorite? If we had to lean over specific one it would be the crispy one, just simply because anything fried is amazing. So let’s start making a buffalo chicken sandwich, we love so much and you will see what makes it so good.
The ingredients you need to get started or just a base for the chicken. The most important is chicken breasts. It’s better to have thin chicken breasts and you can cut each one in half.
That is because there is nothing worse than having the chicken breast that’s about this big on a roll that’s about half the size and then the ants have no bread companion. That’s not right -so by cutting it in half and stacking them you get the perfect ratio of chicken, bread, of everything. So that’s the first important step. The second important step is your buttermilk. Buttermilk will keep the chicken incredibly tender especially since you’re using chicken breast and it makes a world of a difference. You have to pour some of the buttermilk over the chicken.
Now for seasoning you can take some granulated onion, garlic, thyme, rosemary and sage.
That’s all go in there, then add a healthy pinch of salt and a good grinding or two of black pepper and now all you’re going to do is just mix everything together to make sure every piece of chicken is coated in that buttermilk mixture because that’s what’s going to make chicken really tender and delicious.
And you want this to marinate for a while so just make sure you take some and just to make sure that everything is well- coated. Then cover this with some plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for a couple of hours you can do it for six hours you can even do the day before if you want to.
After your chicken has been marinating for a few hours now you’re pretty much ready to rock and roll and make these sandwiches. What you will need to make the actual crispy chicken is really some flour and in the flour mix some more of that chicken seasoning and some salt.
So that’s all ready to go, take a cast iron steaming with some veg oil, you can use peanut oil getting nice and hot and then to make the actual sandwiches .
What you should have more are some soft hamburger buns not kind of rolls- these are just a really soft kind.
And you should have some green leaf lettuce, some big beautiful tomatoes and then for the sauces, this is a crucial, a ranch or blue cheese, which you prefer and then a buffalo sauce.
Not hot sauce, make sure, that whatever the brand is and make sure it says buffalo sauce on it, not hot sauce. This is not Tabasco, it’s nice and thick, and it’s exactly what you want for this recipe, so that’s crucial. If you want to, add cheese.
Take your chicken that is now marinated and gorgeous and doing lovely things and just dip it or dredge trying to not to use your hand, otherwise, it will become a mess and just add it right into your hot oil and that chicken will only need about a minute or two on each side because remember it’s super thin. So continue to cook all the chicken.
After all of your chicken is cooked and it’s crisping. Yes, to some people this might not be the most attractive thing in the world but the taste is really fantastic!
You can toast bread if you want to. When it comes to a buffalo chicken sandwich or a pulled pork sandwich or anything that’s like juicy the best thing is when the bread gets really soggy from the sauce, you know, and the sauce dripping on the side of your arm, all about that.
So take the bread, spoon some of your ranch of bleu cheese underneath. Again your preference- you could use homemade blue cheese, regular blue cheese homemade ranch so no one’s judging this is a judge free zone.
Then your tomato, you can salt your tomato or not. The reason why not is because your chicken can be quite salty, so you don’t have to worry about that.
Depending on the size of your chicken you could do two or three pieces.
Then you just pour your buffalo sauce over top and of course you need to have some on the side for dipping because one just needs that.
And then a leaf of lettuce, really just bring off not only for the green but just for a little bite of something fresh and crisp and lovely.
Then you put the lid on and you have built yourself the ultimate crispy buffalo chicken sandwich. It’s the perfect balance of like crispy, a little bit salty, creamy, spicy and amazing!
